5 Questions to Ask your Photographer
Picture this, it’s last minute and everyone is heading out the door to the airport to go on vacation to warm sunny Southern California. The is meant for the family in need. We developed these 5 questions to ask your photographer.
Just as you grab your bags to head for the car yourself, you suddenly realize that you forgot to book a photographer for the day after you arrive.
Frantically, you search the Internet and call around only to find that most photographers are either booked, super expensive, or ridiculously cheap. In situations like this it is important to remember that no matter what you are looking for, you can find it (for the most part).
Sure, photographers are booked months in advance and photography can be expensive. Keep in mind you have some time before the plane takes off to research photographers in South Orange County. When talking with these photographers there are a few things to remember these;
5 Questions to Ask your Photographer
1. Never tell them what the situation is. This can sound desperate on the phone and desperation means higher prices to most photography sales people.
2. Ask them how much they charge for their sitting and proofs. Often pushy photography sales people will only tell you the sitting price over the phone so you book with them, then they will sit you in their viewing room to tell you prints will be quadruple what the sitting fee was.
3. Ask them how many images you can expect to get from the photo shoot. Also ask if there will be more than one photographer. This is important because if you go back to view your photos it could take hours and hours that could be used for something else while on your vacation.
4. Finally, ask what qualifications the photographer has to shoot your family. Fairly new photographers wont have much. Remember you can always ask to see their portfolio. This will give you an idea of what your family will look like in the photos they take.
5. Last but not least, go with your instinct if something doesn’t feel quite right, then it isn’t, move on.
Remember these 5 Questions to Ask your Photographer
These questions were developed to help families looking for a photographer last minute. Remember you could have Aunt Betty take your photos, but the Turkey dinner might be burnt when you return from the photo shoot. Hiring a professional who knows what they are doing can save you considerable time while on vacation.
We Love Questions!
Kimble Photography loves questions. In fact, we feel uncomfortable when people don’t ask them. As far as our costs, we will tell you everything up front and we won’t make you sit around for hours looking at photos. We will do the work for you.
Generally, a one hour photo shoot of a family of 8 can expect roughly 20-35 images, for a 90 minute shoot a family could expect getting roughly 30-50 images. Kimble Photography has multiple years of experience shooting portraits, events, reunions, weddings, bridals, and engagements.
Our work has been used by The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Teams, Deseret Morning News, Snowbird Ski Resort, Absciex, RPM Ecosystems, Capture My Utah, Ski Racing Magazine, and many others.
